The Impact of Classworks in Early Literacy 2022-2023

After closing the 2023 spring testing window, an analysis was conducted to measure the impact of Classworks on students’ reading assessment scores. Classworks had a tremendous impact! Students in first through third grade that participated in Classworks Individualized Learning (IL) gained more growth in reading than their peers who did not use the program. Students who used the program with fidelity experienced even more remarkable growth.

The Impact of Classworks Across Racial Demographic Groups

After the closing of the 2022 spring testing window, an analysis was conducted to measure the impact of Classworks Individualized Learning for students performing below the 25th percentile in Kindergarten through Third Grade.

Results of the analysis concluded that participation in Classworks Individualized Learning has a significant impact and positive effect on learning in Language Arts as an academic intervention for students performing below the 25th percentile in Kindergarten through Third Grade.

Additionally, there was evidence of significant effects between participating in Classworks Individualized Learning and race within each grade level in grades Kindergarten-Third Grade. Racial sub-demographic groups included American Indian/Native Alaskan, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino Asian, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander, and White students.

Classworks Efficacy: Best Evidence Encyclopedia

This article reviews research on the achievement outcomes of three types of approaches to improving elementary mathematics: Mathematics curricula, computer-assisted instruction (CAI), and instructional process programs. Study inclusion requirements included use of a randomized or matched control group, a study duration of 12 weeks, and achievement measures not inherent to the experimental treatment.

Eighty-seven studies met these criteria, of which 36 used random assignment to treatments. There was limited evidence supporting differential effects of various mathematics textbooks. Effects of CAI were moderate. The strongest positive effects were found for instructional process approaches such as forms of cooperative learning, classroom management and motivation programs, and supplemental tutoring programs. The review concludes that programs designed to change daily teaching practices appear to have more promise than those that deal primarily with curriculum or technology alone.

Classworks Impacts Growth for K-5 Students

Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), evidence-based interventions are practices or programs that have evidence showing they are effective at producing results and improving outcomes when implemented; a promising intervention should be supported by one or more correlational studies with controls for selection bias. A goal of this research was to meet tier 3 ESSA standards by analyzing the impact of Classworks intervention while controlling for selection bias. This report analyzes the performance of 15,000 students on Renaissance® Star math and reading assessments. Students who received Classworks instruction outperformed students without exposure to Classworks instruction by significant margins.

Classworks Efficacy: Reading and Mathematics with NWEA

Across all grades, students who used Classworks exhibited more growth on the NWEA MAP Growth Reading and Math assessment than students in the comparison group. An independent third-party review of the study conducted by SEG Measurement concludes that this study meets the requirements for Level 2 evidence under the ESSA legislation. This study includes economically disadvantaged, special education, and racial demographic subgroups.
